Welcome to Ikigai Project.
We're two friends with an aspiration for business and creativity, looking for experience and to have fun in the process. The idea of Ikigai was realised on a long car journey; from that day we've been creating designs, the name and the logo, testing the waters of business and gaining valuable experience along the way.
Ikigai is a Japanese concept originating from the Heian period of Japan. The Japanese word “iki” translates to life, the “gai” portion comes from the word “kai” describing value or worth, so the word Ikigai directly translates to 'a reason for being'. We have always been fascinated by Japanese culture and the concept of Ikigai, which was the perfect fit for our company.
Ikigai means something different to everyone as it is your reason for being. The 'gai' part of Ikigai describes your value or worth, how much you mean to yourself and the people around you. Ikigai is your life purpose or bliss, it's what inspires you to get out of bed every morning.
"I have been fascinated by Japanese culture for almost my whole life, ever since my parents first told me about the time they lived in Japan. I myself got the priviledge of going to Japan in March-April 2023, and I immediately fell in love with every aspect of the country. From the architecture to the culture, I loved all of it, and wanted to share the experience I had through the Ikigai project."
